The various harmonizations of Beethoven's Ode to Joy were realized using different prototypes developed in the project. - The Bossa Nova accompaniment was produced using original guitar recordings of François Pachet and recomposed using an improved concatenative synthesis algorithm designed by Mathieu Ramona and François Pachet - The Lounge harmonization was produced from transcriptions of lounge theme (Cookie Raver by Illumination) transcribed by Alexandre Tanguy, and transformed using an algorithm developed by François Pachet and Pierre Roy - The jazz 6-voices harmonization was produced from transcriptions of Take 6 harmonizations by Antoine Dessein, and a system designed by François Pachet and Pierre Roy using Markov constraint techniques - The Ennio Morricone, Beatles and Lillywood and the pricks orhestrations were produced from original recordings made by Benoit Carré, and recomposed using FlowAudio, a system designed and implemented by M. Its purpose is to showcase how AI can be utilized to create new, compelling music and not just serve as a mere laboratory demonstration. This album is intended to become a milestone in the history of technology and music creation. Initially, this project started as a research project called Flow-Machines. François Pachet and his team (Sony CSL) aimed to discover algorithms that could capture and reproduce musical "style." Through this project, many scientific and technical results were achieved, and several prototypes were built, albeit with rudimentary interfaces and numerous bugs. French musician Benoit Carré subsequently joined the research team and shared his experiences with other artists like Stromae, Kiesza, Michael Lovett (NZCA Lines), C Duncan, JATA, Kyrie Kristmanson, The Pirouettes, Castastrophe, Camille Bertault, Mederic Collignon, The Bionix, among others. Eventually, the artists took charge, and the scientific project transformed into a musical project. This album is the product of that journey, where all the songs were created by artists using the technology, such as composers, singers, musicians, producers, and sound engineers, across various musical genres, including Pop, Electronic, Ambient, and Jazz. The result is an album with melodic twists, harmonic surprises, and timbral juxtapositions, all with a strong sense of direction and an unwavering goal of producing genuinely excellent music that can resonate with and challenge the artists' fan base. ...... Flow Machines release 'Any Other Day' on 6 November 2011. The track is Flow Machines first new material in 2 years and precedes their new album release in January 2012. Flow Machines surfaced in late 2008 with a reworking of The Human League's classic b-side 'Hard Times'. An album and remix EP followed, and by 2011 the studio-based act had received acclaim in Time Out magazine and the NME for their own remixes of Cornershop and The Lost Cavalry respectively. Flow Machines are intent on keeping a low profile - yet to play live, give an interview, or release a press photo, opting instead to focus 100% of energy on studio projects, releasing their unique experimental pop directly to fans. He is well known for his soundtracks for Anime and movies such as A Silent Voice, Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, Boogiepop, Ping Pong, Liz and the Blue Bird and Sanī/32. The researchers have developed Flow Machines, a system that learns music styles and exploits unique combinations of style transfer, optimization, and interaction techniques, Flow Machines is meant to be an interactive tool that can suggest new melodic creative ideas.
